Strategic items for the water and electricity industries

In accordance with its Articles of Association, the mandates of the General Assembly, and directives from the Ministry of Energy’s Deputy for Human Capital, Research, and Information Technology, the Satkab Specialized Company is responsible for identifying, updating, and consolidating the list of strategic items for the water and electricity industries.

Pursuant to Article (1) of the Law on Knowledge-Based Production Leap, strategic items must meet the following criteria:

1) Items requiring foreign currency expenditure exceeding one million dollars;

2) Identification of risks associated with sourcing these products from abroad, whether under sanctions or otherwise;

3) Assessment of the alignment between the importation of these products and the country's technological development trends;

4) Alignment with domestic and export market capacities;

5) The product's level of criticality and its role regarding food security, defense, public health, industry, and national security.

To ensure a unified approach to identifying, updating, prioritizing, and supporting the localization of strategic items in the water and electricity sectors, a working group has been established at the proposal of Satkab. Chaired by the Ministry of Energy’s Deputy for Human Capital, Research, and Information Technology, this working group comprises representatives from specialized companies, SATBA, the Niroo Research Institute (NRI), the Water Research Institute (WRI), the Niroo Science and Technology Park, the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, relevant syndicates and specialized associations, and the offices of the Ministry of Energy’s specialized deputies. The working group’s secretariat is hosted by Satkab.
